Aburiya Raku - Las Vegas

Too bad. We liked the desserts here and seemed to be crowded/sold out whenever we went to Raku for dinner. From Eater.

The dedicated dessert cafe, Sweets Raku, is closing its doors after nearly ten years of serving delightfully delicate dishes of vanilla cream puffs, mango sorbet, and chestnut cream cakes. The tiny Chinatown cafe, located in the same plaza as its sushi and charcoal grill sister restaurant, Aburiya Raku, will close its doors permanently on June 30.

This place still knocks it out of the park.

Our favorite openers (house tofu & Ken2 salad) plus a sashimi plate of bluefin, shokko & ebi.

Skewers! I love that foie is available in Vegas. Waygu skirt, Iberico jowl and some veg. I do miss the chicken, but that means a trip to chicken Raku.

Grilled isaki

Fin.

Another great meal here, everything was excellent. The kanpachi was unreal in texture and flavor.

I really miss the LA outpost.

Sad to learn that the intestines are off the menu.

Everything was good. Foie gras, kanpachi, hotaru ika karaage, and the washroom (never thought I put these in the same sentence ) were the highlights

THE washroom

So glad you enjoyed it. I love Raku…the Ken2 salad is also great. That tofu is tremendous.

The washroom is a trip.

Anyone have issues with making a reservation?

I’ve called during off hours and left a message. I’ve called during business hours and the phone keeps on ringing.

I’ve never had that happen before.

Thanks…party of 6+ still needs to call in.

Call 30 minutes before opening hours.

Unfortunately I lost all the picture but this place was so good. I didn’t have any expectations and thought this was a sushi restaurant until I get the menu :joy:

So good

Finally got through. Weekend advanced reservations for 6+ groups require tasting menu selection. They might change their tune if you call in a week before.

Did the tasting menu with a friend…and it was fun. I will admit that I had hit Stubborn Seed prior to this, but I wanted her first meal in Vegas to be Raku.

Opened with the housemade tofu. That blew her mind…even more so after the matcha salt and a splash of house shoyu.

After that…there were sashimi presentations and robata options with a brown sugar custard bringing up the rear. I will be honest and say it was a giant blur.

She had a great time and it was quite the way to welcome her to Vegas.

I may never try two dinners in one night again.

I actually never went to Raku LA, but the Vegas branch has always been stellar.
