Angler - Beverly Center

angler is back and it’s like they never left (i never did the valet parking dining). execution and service are already dialed in. my server and everyone i interacted with were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, seems like they worked out the kinks from the parking garage era. food was executed flawlessly as before. no 20% required service charge either.

chief sergio was not in the house (was told he was there earlier), but culinary director sergio (paul chung) and new exec chef sergio (mazen mustafa) were there.

Thanks for the report. Is there still an outdoor “lounge” area or has it all been moved indoors?

Looks great. No sundae?

No miniature charcoal brazier for the pancakes?

Just gossip, but I heard from a chef who used to work for him that Skenes is currently living in Los Angeles and drives a Ferrari.

indoors only

no table side preparations.

Oh good, I’m glad it’s just as good as before. How was the service? Was the staff knowledgeable? During the outside dining days, I remember the staff being amateurish. Hope they resolved this since that was one of the many draws that Angler had

yep, my server was very knowledgeable, she sold me on the brassicas prep, which were delicious.

i never had the coconut so wanted to try that, it was very good, but the sundae is still tops for me.

Are they allowing people to sit at the bar? I used to love going by myself and chillin at the bar.

good question, I didn’t notice anybody at the bar, but I’m not sure if that was because it wasn’t allowed or just that nobody was there.

he’s been living in LA since Angler opened initially. he did some private dinners but that stopped right before Covid.

The writer is funny!
