It’s a concerted free speech effort on his part. He’s trying to defend comics’ rights to clown anyone and everyone as they see fit. I don’t actually think he’s phobic and he’s doing this to stick to his guns.

Yep, this. It was the theme of the night and they all went hard, even defending speech that us L.A. liberals find crazy. It was a great show.
New album is out entirely produced by Madlib. Only on Luminary (I have no idea what that is).

I’ll give a shout out to Verse in here. It’s been on my radar for a minute since it’s right in my neighborhood, but hadn’t made it until last night. It’s a restaurant built in a former studio so the acoustics are on point. They’ve got live music Thursday-Sunday and last night was a trio playing mostly Miles Davis. The food was slightly better than I expected with a couple standout dishes (Iberian Pintxos and Lamb Pasta) and a couple complete misses (Albacros Toastada and Salmon Belly). It is walkable for us so we’ll be back. I wouldn’t say it’s worth venturing over the hill for, but if you’re in the area it’s really not a bad option.

Trying to decide on Suzanne Goin’s in box menu. Bummer is you cant bring wine to the Steely Dan show. Tequila travels well in a Fiji water bottle though.

Don’t waste good tequila - it’ll just be thrown out at the gate. No alcohol or drinks (even a Fiji water bottle) can be brought into a lease show at the Bowl. Read their Special House Rules on the Bowl page:

Looks like you can bring in water bottles according your link. I feel like the social contract here is make a modicum of effort and they won’t search that hard. Usually we buy an extra seat for the cooler for every 4 people in the group as well.

For Chappelle they didn’t allow outside alcohol but my friends somehow brought in bottles of wine & bubbly and nobody batted an eye when we only kinda discretely opened them. Mobile phones on the otherhand? They were locked up and if anyone was caught filming they were immediately escorted off the premises.

Yep, except for cellphone policing security was kinda lax. Case in point, Chappelle got tackled by a guy with a makeshift weapon.
