Best Fresh Corn

Thank you for all that. Maybe a trek but sounds worth it.

@jsj6wisco This may be a silly question, but do most of the stands take debit/credit cards? I hardly ever carry cash these days so would have to prepare if they don’t.

@Midlife most of the stands at Irvine FM use Apple Pay or credit card. Some of them charge a fee of $0.35 to $0.50. I have used Apple Pay at Ken’s, Arnett, Baba and Le Bahn. Some of the smaller farms are cash only.

Random suggestion - bring your knives for sharpening while you go shopping. There is a nice older gentleman who does a nice job and charges by the inch.

At the Hollywood farmer’s market it’s a mix. Many take Venmo, a few cards, some are still cash only.

But not on the first Saturday of the month! They go to the farmer’s market in Orange on the first Saturday

Thanks but we have a Chef’s Choice Professional electric sharpener that does a great job. Bought it when we owned our wine shop.

Like everybody says here, or at least many, TAPIA just off the Ventura freeway at the Havenhurst exit.
They grow they’re on there. If you buy it that day it’s picked that day cook it that day

I simply put them on a hot grill covered without checking for about 15 to 20 minutes. Take them off let them cool a bit and then shut them and eat them.

Just a note: when they don’t have it from their own field right there, they bring it in from Coachella and it’s quite sweet. Also picked that day

Agreed. Great corn. They told me recently the extended June gloom sabotaged their own corn. Nevertheless I have have had four wonderful buys from them. Going to do it again on Sunday. Great people. Great corn. Just beware of the overcooked roasted ears on the weekend.

Do let us know.

Before the pandemic they had a stall at the BHFM which is really close to Mid-City. Delicious corn all summer!

The corn was ok. Maybe I should have roasted it instead of boiling it. it cooked up to be a beautiful yellow color. The white was better than the yellow.
