Bill Addison on the Last Decade

I think a worthy reflection on the decade. Predictions for the future?

Decade schmeckade. I don’t know how Addison dates the national recognition of LA’s culinary excellence to 2013.

  • 1986: Jonathan Gold starts writing his “Counter Intelligence” column.
  • 1991: Money magazine calls Los Angeles “the single most exciting restaurant city in America.”
  • 2000: St. Martin’s publishes the Counter Intelligence book.
  • 2005: LA Weekly publishes Gold’s first “99 Essential” list.
  • 2007: Gold gets a Pulitzer.
  • 2008: Michelin publishes an LA guide and Roy Choi rolls out his first Kogi truck.
  • 2009: The New Yorker profiles Gold.
