Budonoki - Virgil Village

I was investigating why a few restaurants were not showing up in my database for the LA 51 list. The database includes all restaurants under the purview of the LA County Department of Public Health.

Most omissions had simple explanations. Chi Spacca was not showing up because it’s under Mozza 2 Go’s permit. Union was not showing up because Pasadena has its own health department. Etc.

However, there was one restaurant missing from my database for which I could not come up with an explanation: Budonoki

The database does not include any facilities containing “Budonoki”:

The database does not include any restaurants at all at Budonoki’s address (654 N Virgil Ave)

The LA County Department of Health Environmental Health Inspection Results Page shows no results for a facility named “Budonoki”:

The LA County Department of Health Environmental Health Inspection Results Page shows no results for a restaurant at 654 Virgil. There are results for a condo complex and a pool at said condo complex. I checked both of those entries to see if maybe one of them was mislabeled and is actually Budonoki. Nope - one is a condo, one is a pool, just as the entries say.

I also perused Google and Yelp - perhaps I could find their health inspection sign in a photo. This is the clearest image I could find of the exterior. No health inspection sign that I can discern.

I am sure there is a simple explanation why Budonoki is a ghost in the LA County Department of Health’s systems.

Does anyone know what said explanation is?
