service and ambience was strange. the restaurant was probably 75% empty on a friday night, and i had a reservation for 2. I got there before my friend, and they requested our entire party be present before we were seated. I get that this is a common policy, but there were literally rows of empty tables… so I just sat in one and waited.
the general interior design was lovely, but the lighting ruined it. it was 830pm and they had the lights cranked up to CVS levels.
food was overall quite good, except for the tuna crudo. it was drenched in what tasted like BBQ sauce. odd choice for what is typically such a delicate dish. actually heard multiple tables complain about it.
the wine pours were also criminally small.
would not return… I can see why this place is empty.

to be fair here, it says 4oz pours on the menu and at least for me they mentioned it when I ordered. Plus the majority of glasses last week were $13 to $14. I like that they offer carafes
Yeah I want them to succeed and I’ve talked with Joshua at length about the horrible lighting but he refuses to change it. Same with the wine pours. I live 2 blocks away and never go pretty much for those reasons, the vibes are just … “off”.

hahaha no way!! I can’t believe they’re defending that lighting. vibes are half (or more) of the reason people go out for dinner and drinks in LA…

Another nice bite, I like this place. Drank a Godello and an ashy red blend - Romé Tinto, Garnacha, Jaén that saw some clay and concrete. Tried the cheesecake, some tuna and tomatoes, melon cold soup, jimmy nardello coca, and cuttlefish and fideus. A touch dark on the bottom there to match the wine.
Coca really stole the show, even ate a nardello with the cheesecake. That kicked ass

What’s the first dish pictured?
Last minute dinner on a Monday night. No available reservations on Resy except a two top at the bar. Walk in and the restaurant is 80% empty. Service says they moved to Resy two weeks ago and they’re still figuring it out.
Food and service excellent, quality is high, but so are the menu prices.
The only miss was a too sweet, but very pretty sangria.
The artichoke dip with an extra coca is worth the trip.

Recently did a group dinner here with the mandatory tasting menu – fantastic value for $67 pp. Food kept coming, took home plenty of leftovers. Excellent service. Sadly, as mentioned, the room remained mostly empty throughout the night.

Glad you liked it! I really think this restaurant is excellent. It would go on my list of top 5 most underrated restaurants in LA. Others would be Jacaranda (it shouldn’t be possible to get a same day reservation there), Ceviche Project, Juliet, and Rossoblu.
