have you been to Danny Boy’s yet?
Sadly no.
Ah…where have u been getting your pizza fix? or are you on a no carb diet?
Have you had Sonny’s?
Not yet…where what is Sonny’s?
Not on a low-carb diet just haven’t gotten around to having pizza. I’m working very strange long hours. I did have a couple slices a few weeks ago at Prime in Burbank.
I’m suffering, I tell you. I need to get to Danny Boy’s and to Sonny’s… and it’s been way too long since I’ve been to Apollonia’s.
Just go to Sonny’s way better
really? it looks like you cant walk up and order…is it a damn online everything joint?
They take walk ups but they sell out often and there may be a wait, but it seems like on weekdays during the day you should be ok.
Partially inspired by @bruins and the fact we needed a quick bite before Kim’s Convenience. We headed over to Danny Boys for some slices.
Of course we got one of their plain cheese slices which we actually prefer to their Margarita due to lack of sauce on said pie. As I mentioned in reply to Bruins I always sprinkle some dried oregano and garlic powder. Just to add a bit more savoriness to the slice.
I love Danny Boy’s but sometimes they can miss on the crust. Not tonight. Great pies all around. Excellent Pizza bones. Soft. Tasty. No skimping on the sauce or toppings. The mushroom slice today was extra delish!
Lowkey want to sample to tell you how close it is to NY pizza, but I’d rather save calories for tacos/Pizzaria Sei/Quarter Sheets. Maybe next time I come to LA!
I would rather have those three places as well! But sadly none of those places after finishing work would be able to get me to a 7:30p curtain at the Taper last night!
Sometimes it’s not about the best. It’s about the situation and I am so glad this an option for us when downtown.
Tbf that’s the true ethos of a nyc slice
How was Kim’s Convenience? I wanted to go see it because I love the series but my wife demurred…
It was really good. It’s a touring cast so they are deeply familiar with their roles. It’s a one act play, so it moves. It’s like reading the book and then watching the movie. It’s different in tone and content. So don’t expect the springy comedy that the show was. But the roots are all there. Several Korean deep cuts in it too including dialogue. Being at tables with my Asian HS friends and their parents many a time, it rang super true.
Thanks! I may have to convince my wife to see it.
