Does such a thing exist in Los Angeles - really good food with nicely spaced tables and with a "fine dining" atmosphere?

I think this might be more the issue (closed on Mondays) than is finding a suitable venue itself.

Jar on Beverly is good and similar to Craft.

From first hand experience you cannot get any reservation you want with an AMEX plat, there may be a few more tables available to you. You would still need to reserve early/at reservation release for a popular place, but you might have a better chance of landing a table because of the extra availability.

Yes that is correct! Love Jar. (But it’s closed Mondays.)

A bit further east, you have Marino and also Antico Nuovo (both of which are open 'til 10PM on Mondays)!

Polarizing food, but Meteora is pretty well spaced and the plants between seats make it feel a bit more intimate and private.

Leopardo isn’t quite a fine dining atmosphere, but their table spacing is good IMO.

Restaurants not mentioned above: Citrin and Array 36.

It was, but closed on Monday.

Probably a hotel restaurant. Open every day and not so dependent on packing a max crowd into a small space.

Ok so I guess it’s technically a hotel restaurant, but actually Plateia at UCLA fits. I also found the spacing good at Loreto, which I believe is open on Mondays.

Tables are pretty close together at Antico Nuovo.

Along the walls, yes, but they have more open ones in the center of the room.

Ooh, thank you, somehow the opening of San Laurel had escaped my attention and while I don’t feel like trekking downtown on a Monday night just to eat there, I will definitely keep it in mind for another time.

Plus, even better I see that they are open for breakfast, which is actually my favorite meal of the day, and I find myself downtown in the mornings from time to time.

Manuela is a good option.

Food isn’t quite there at Manuela, IMO…

Charcoal in Venice has nicely spaced tables - mostly booths - if not exactly a fine dining atmosphere. Open on Mondays. $35 corkage I think. And we love the food.

That is a great Monday night choice!

I recall the other side the tables are kinda tight though and the booths are seprated by a small wall so you’re kinda still close to the other diners, maybe misrembering though

I guess tight is all relative when you’re talking about table spacing in LA restaurants! There are a couple photos on their website that show the dining room layout. Also may not be packed with people on a Monday evening.
