Oh, I haven’t tried those! Are those available at TJ’s?
No it was too salty and rich for me too
The extra hot salsa (w/ habanero and ghost pepper) is indeed VERY spicy but quite addictive, actually. Nice tomato-y and acid tang, and there’s an appealing light-ness to the whole thing.
Just a heads up:
How bizarre. Wonder who came up w/ the idea for a high-fiber candy andy why???
I think the idea was zero sugar. If the high fiber per se was the plan they’d have plugged it on the package.
14 grams of fiber in a 39-gram serving is not what I expect from candy!

Not surprised it is making people sick. It’s not the fiber (like lentils or whatever), its second ingredient is allulose (a sweetener) and then they throw in erythritol for even more sweetener. Both of those ingredients make me sicker than a dog (and in fact erythritol is toxic for dogs, so perhaps I have some dog DNA). Wish they would just come up with products with less sugar (like some yogurts that use sugar, but are only lightly sweetened), but I guess heavily sweetened is the whole point of candy.
On a happier note, I picked up some Spicy Lentil Wraps yesterday at Trader Joe’s which not only did not make me sick, but are delicious.
Oh they’re back. Thanks for the heads up.
I think they must be a stock item now– the garlic butter flavor has been on the shelves consistently at the handful of TJs around me that I tend to go to. Wish the blue cheese ones would come back around and not just for the holidays…..
Appreciate the heads up. I’m not one to snack on a bag of chips, but these add a great layer of flavor and texture to a sandwich.
The garlic spread dip and the zhoug mixed together are kind of like crack. The zhoug by itself is a bit of a disappointment (perhaps because they use canola oil, not olive oil), but it perks up with the garlic sauce mixed in. I used that to top a Trader Joe’s pre-made meal of red pepper stuffed with ground beef and cheese. The stuffed pepper was just okay on its own, but much better when topped with the garlic sauce zhoug mix. I could also see that garlic sauce zhoug mix being an excellent thing to roll popcorn in.
Might work well on a sandwich, too. I’ve only tried this recipe (which is really tasty) from this channel, but I like the way a lot of her stuff sounds:
I could easily see subbing the vegan pesto with zhong for some variety.
I recommend only mixing as much of the salad-mix w/ the dressing as you think you’ll need b/c the salad mix wilts pretty quickly. And I think I’ve generally skipped the tomato.
That mix plus a little yogurt also makes a great marinade for chicken, steak or pork.
I forgot to add the yogurt, but today I mixed the Trader Joe’s garlic paste and zhug and used it to coat boring air-popped (no oil or butter) popcorn and it definitely punched above its weight turning a boring snack into something approaching deliciousness. Next time I will add some yogurt which also may make it adhere even better to the dry popcorn. With another batch of popcorn, I tried the Trader Joe’s Gochujang as a mix in. That one was good as well and I might even give that one a go with a bit of yogurt mixed in next time.
