My son has an event nearby tomorrow, so I have a full morning to spend here. Am thinking Villa Moreliana and Fat & Flour, but anything I should not be missing?
Truthfully I’d choose to have breakfast at San Laurel instead. Otherwise I occasionally enjoy a couple of pupusas from Sarita’s, which opens at 10.
Endorfeinne coffee and bakers bench.
love these two. donut man also is delicious (tiger tail!).
I sort of had to rush through the market and didn’t get much of a chance to explore. Hit up Villa Moreliana. Got a bunch of lengua, heart and buche tacos. I like how simple these are. While most places tend to boil/cook their offal to way beyond too tender, presumably to satisfy more Western tastes, I like how these meats still have a bit of chew to them. Really enjoyed them.
Fat and Flour, I only had a chance to try the chessboard pie. Delicious. I was afraid it would be too sweet, but there’s a nice balance of dark chocalate-y very dense, almost brownie like texture and topped with whipped cream. Parts of it were crusty, which I greatly appreciated. With more time, I would have tried additional items but for a 15 minute in and out, this hit the spot.
Thanks. I missed Donut Man but really wanted to try it.
I took a look at San Laurel and couldn’t get excited about the breakfast menu. I’ve tried bunch of Jose Andres restos over the year and never walk away wanting to eat it again.
