Ugh!!! Nachos are my Kryptonite!!! It’s amazing how many bad versions there are out there. Will try as I work my way through OaxaCalifornia’s new expanded menu. The Tlyuda was okay.

Why are nachos so delectable?

Fat, savory, crunchy. Something for everyone.

Add salty too and there’s a party in your mouth!

The Holbox lines are so obscene. Got here at 1115 to grab a bite from komal b4 the usc Notre dame wbb game.

Line well out the door. Michelin ruined this spot for us

Did a line out the door a few weeks ago and was at the counter in 10 mins and had my food 10 mins after. They were super staffed up and it was fine

Yep! Don’t let the line scare you. It moves fast and the plates come out at a good clip. We go with guests and so we order form around the market. It’s never been an issue with items from Holbox hitting the table late.

How’s the food holding up at this volume? It seems like they are serving 50x the covers

I haven’t been to Holbox freq enough (just twice) to have a strong sense. I found my first visit (prior to the Michelin star? Def b/f the crowds) to be sublime.

I thought my second visit (a few wks – months ago) was absolutely delightful, but it didn’t blow me away like the first time did. Could’ve just been b/c I “knew” what to expect.

The line moved fast for us, and I thought it was well worth whatever relatively short wait we had.

I’ve been back several times since the star and the crowds due to guests. They are holding up as they have the newish holding area, walk in. They prep a lot ahead of time and you see them go back and forth and it helps also keep everyone humming along and out of each other’s away. It’s quite impressive.

We’re only going to be in LA for 2 days, only 1 of which Holbox will be open
So what kind of wait time should we expect for a Sunday 6pm (Dec 22, is that going to be busier than usual due to the holidays?) How much better would 3pm be (if we shuffle other schedules around for it) ? Thanks.

Go when it works in your schedule. The line moves fast. Dishes come out in a good clip and it’s incredibly freeway and public transit adjacent. I would not turn your schedule upside down with what little time you are here.

I wonder if they still offer the Torta de Cameron. Last time I asked, probably a year and a half ago, they said it’s not on the menu but usually available off-menu. Since then they have really blown up so much in popularity that I doubt it.

Love learning about what goes into the taco, especially the flavorful pastes. They are so well-balanced.

Line was probably close to an hour today at 130 pm sigh.

Happy for Holbox, but Michelin can go kick rocks.

I’m here now and it’s a bad situation. Just cannot justify that line, but the good news is I got to try a torta from Oaxacalifornia which was tasty!
