Anyone w/ info on when the Santa Monica location might open? I drove by the other day, and one section of the ground-area of the mixed-use residential is bare, while a (seemingly) much smaller section has brown paper blocking most of the windows but no signage.
Yes.
Indeed
The smaller section has two tiny posters affixed to the butcher paper that have “Holy Basil” logos on them. That’s the section they’re planning to occupy. There has been no work started building out the space yet.
I love holy basil.
Food is always presented with fun ideas (nacho, burger, risotto etc) and delicious.
Monday burger night was Yummy.
Ordered burger two times. It reminds me spicy version of shack shack burger in a good way.
Chickens, meatball, fries, crudo, and ice cream is all great.
Even people are so nice.
My one of two (rasarumah) favorite Asian food genre restaurant in LA. Although I need to try anajak and yess soon
A bang bang with Anajak would have been perfect…
That’s really far lol
But we have a PRObangbanger here…
Nothing is impossible
Just got in for tonight. What to order for a 2-top? Love Thai salads. Probably order 3-4 plates de[pending on size.
Atwater? Sometimes they do a raw sampler so you can try smaller versions of the raw dishes. Crispy rice salad great. I love the khao soi pasta or the salted egg yolk prawns
Yes, Atwater. Mee krob vs duck vs short ribs?
crispy rice salad
beef tataki
grandma rice
shrimp aguachile
moo krob
Bangin meal, though they were out of a few items we were interested in. Pad see ew, nom tok, soft shell crab with salted egg brown butter, and Penang beef cheeks. All delicious, especially the crab and Penang. Thx for the recs. Definitely gonna return.
Went tonight, still rocks. Brown butter salted egg soft shell crab/shrimp was a hit tonight. Crispy rice salad portion is also now double the size.
Sampler of 3 raw dishes is the best move here - tonight was scallop, kanpachi, and a cuttlefish larb
The food comes out FAST (had all 5 dishes within 10 mins) but it’s one of the few places where I like to have the spread on the table rather than super coursed out
I wish I could say that the downtown location is similarly exciting, but it’s stagnated at best since the opening of the Atwater location.
Concur.
I use the downtown location for take out and pad Thai/pad see ew mostly. Not as a sit down restaurant vibe.
I do that too because you can get the Pad Kee Mao with wide flat noodles at the DTLA location but only with vermicelli at the Atwater location. I’m sure there is a reason for this, I guess storing the wide flat noodles takes up too much space for Atwater, but I wish they would figure it out.
