Holy Basil Atwater was not what I expected at all, lots of fusion dishes rather than traditional. Would have preferred chairs to the little plastic stools.

The menu was out of date, 3-4 dishes 86’d and a couple more with substitutions.

Couldn’t understand the servers very well between thick accents and noisy passageway so we weren’t entirely clear on what we ordered or got until after the meal when the bill arrived.

Two orders of lhon, in puri, which I guess was sort of a riff on miang kham?

Scallop aquachile.

Top dish is the “kao soi” with paccheri (Italian pasta). Right is cabbage salad. Left is pad pak, the one dish that seemed traditional.

Didn’t get a photo of the risotto, which came with shrimp instead of lobster.

Food was very good but not what led us to go there.

I think you’ve been to Luv2Eat b/f? I’m not super familiar w/ Thai food, but are you looking for higher-end prep of traditional dishes?

It’s an unusual mix of authentic flavors and the chef’s creativity and ambition. The little stools and tables and the relaxed attitude to details like an outdated menu are very much like Thailand.

I really really liked the NY strip in Thai chimichurri and the Rad Na Mee Krob

I really liked the Nam Tok

I liked the Lhon Crab w/ uni

The only dish that was a bit of a miss for me was the Tum Yum Risotto w/ shrimp.

Would absolutely come back, I see the hype! And if you’re wondering.. Everyone’s guy, Sergio, I mean Deau, was in the building

Both of the little desserts (key lime pie and panna cotta) combined are $10, might as well get both if you’re not full.

The server said they had no desserts. This was yesterday at 5:15.

Sorry, should have mentioned in the post that I went to the new Santa Monica location

Finally made it out to Santa Monica. Solo at the little counter seating in front of the wok station. Definitely welcome to have them in the neighborhood.

Nice. Was Sergio cooking?

Nope! Seems like the place has its own Chef running the day today. The Kitchen looked very well organized to me with the Chef barking out tickets
