Spicy tuna melt, lodge bread, tuna salad with broccoli stems and chives, tjs italian chili pepper oil
Classic summertime meal in our house; cedar plank grilled salmon, corn-on-the cob, green beans, and homegrown tomatoes.
Keema Matar based on a Milk Street recipe - ground beef is cooked with red onions, garlic, ginger, garam masala, mashed tomatoes, tomato paste and peas. Finished with some yogurt and cilantro and served over rice and with more yogurt
Shrimp and Vegetable Chowder - red bell pepper, potatoes, corn, onions, garlic, sriracha, chili powder, mustard powder and italian seasoning are cooked in chicken broth and sherry. The chowder is finished by adding shrimps, cornstarch and some milk and tomato sauce.
sungolds, garlic, valserena cultured butter, dash of barbadillo oloroso cuco, bakestone’s sourdough (not my favorite but kinda nostalgic). awesome.
Is that a riff on panzanella?
yeah sort of a mix of inspirations: the discussion on the cafe 2001 thread about soggy panzanella, four horsemen’s sungold tomato sauce, rustic canyon’s scallop and cherry tomato toast
n what little i had in the fridge
How do you like the Four Horsemen’s cookbook? Thought about picking it up but haven’t pulled the trigger. I made the celery-date salad from their Instagram last year for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit
don’t have it! also grabbed it from his insta ![]()
put it down at the book store (shout out archestratus) so i could grab pomp and circumstance and the cafe cecilia cookbook instead.
Dang I got some meiji soft tofu to use up. This looks dope
Beautiful!
Look at that smoke!
Twice-baked potatoes
Had leftovers from a baked potato bar and the level of effort is the same regardless of the number you make.
leftovers of $5 whole chicken from jubilee market (not ideal ik) poached following @JLee 's guide more or less (tiny pot and no thermometer so did some guesswork to safely overshoot - 5 min simmer after boil before shutting it off + total 35 min cook time). w/ garlic scape jangajji + brine + chicken fat
thick juk (couldn’t be bothered to thin out the leftovers this morning) with the poaching liquid
action shot (moister than it looks on cam i promise)
this a lactoferment?
been wanting to try lactofermenting tomatoes ever since i had this super fun cherry and tomato dish at mon lapin.
That’s pretty impressive. The rice kernels look like they do at places that really know how to make risotto.
