that’s why they call it black pudding, the hashbrown is for texture.
There wasn’t enough hashbrown for the amount of pudding given.
It wasn’t mediocre, per se, it was just okay. Which is why the hype eludes me.
Our dish didn’t look like that at all.
Our hashbrown’s thickness was probably a fourth or fifth of that.
Carbone’s a great name provided they cook over charcoal.

They got the Westside Gunn/Griselda cosign too, with shouts to the Cornish Hen and the ‘square shits’ which I’m guessing is the sobrasada panino. Restaurant has totally crossed over, good for them! Anyway…
back at the stable for a summer night ride
highlights were all the summer ingredients, melon, figs, super sweet bullhorn peppers, pomodoro (goes great with the bread and butter), roasted peach, keitt mango
(new) prosciutto and melon
(new) burrata with torn figs, celery and walnuts
(new) albacore tuna, tonnato and bullhorn peppers
bread and butter
(new) pappardelle pomodoro with bottarga and basil
(revived) côte de porc with roasted peach and mustard frill
(new) keitt mango sorbet with sauternes
also got a mini tour of the forthcoming patio. it’ll have a brand new menu including wood-fired pizza from chef brittany who used to work at the original roberta’s.
One way I judge restaurants is how well I can remember the dishes months later. I can’t remember anything about any dish I ate at Horses. I have clear memories of several dishes at Angler. One thrived, one died. There’s no accounting for taste.
real subtle flex
do you have a plaque yet too?
hold your horses, I’m not on unverified max’s level.
I have had many a pizza from chef Brittany at Roberta’s and private parties prior to Horses. She’s great.
that’s the real flex. plaque forthcoming?
20 posts were split to a new topic: Ken Freidman: threat or menace?
ya i also disagree on the boudin… it’s really great… also i was all about the heavy cumin pork chop… twice. we all have different tastes though @attran99, hope you at least dug the scene… there’s no buzzier place for me in la than sitting in a small booth by the bar. but also i’m woefully lacking in recent experiences
the garden at horses now open. review forthcoming?
Different menu apparently!
and pizza
