Love to see Mason from Turkey and the Wolf getting rec here, also Four Kings and Jon Yao. Always shocked to not see Austin/Kato beverage program on these lists.

Also wild to see Benu on the outstanding restaurant list. Only been once this past year, but it was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had

List is solid. Great to see Baroo on here and Holbox which I feel epitomize some of LA’s best. Also Republique for service is fitting.

True Laurel in SF may still reign as my favorite bar in the country. New Orleans well represented deservedly after my recent trip there, I have to get my traditional Cajun and Creole but they have so much representation of other cuisines in addition. One could eat an entire week there and still discover.

True Laurel is easily one of the 5 best bars in the country

Republique for service is fitting, but the service is poor compared to, say, Addison. I feel like James Beard and other sources go out of their way to spite the true top restaurants.

I think Addisons service is well represented by its 3 Michelin stars.

Damn, interesting. What was so disappointing about it?

I know the CDC moved back to Korea last year but I went to benu in 2023 and found it pretty much flawless. Perfect execution, left feeling like the only limit was maybe being a little more traditionally rooted/less creative.
