Our party of 4 had a great time at the counter.
I’ve only been once, but what are you looking for from the experience? I really enjoyed watching the chef prep the dishes. But if it’s more of a romantic dinner (and I’m not sure if the setting lends itself all that well to romance, TBH) and you don’t want any interaction w/ the chef, then the table makes sense.
Sat at table. All good. Based on where you sit at the counter you can’t see anything anyways
Sitting at the counter (and we’ve always been seated where we can see chef Kojima in action) reminds me (with a pang of nostalgia) of the random izakayas we wander into when we visit Japan, so for me the counter is the only way to go.
Counter for sure, as far left as you can be as you enter the restaurant for the best view of the action. For two, I like the shorter counter that seats 2-3.
Mayu has been exceptionally kind and managed to get us at the counter. I’ll ask if we can sit on the left. Thanks for the tip.
Banging meal tonight. Chef and Mayu could not have been nicer. No photos, but there were two standout dishes tonight. The first were the chicken hearts which I could have eaten a dozen of. The second was the chicken thigh dish, but the highlight were the amela tomatos which were mindblowingly good. I’d never heard of them before, but I could eat those tomatoes like an apple.
