The soul soothing bone broth at Yuchun
Where my Koreans at?!? What is this amazingness I’m eating? Neighbor lady made it
Clam? Snail? Cockle? First we thought chicken hearts or gizzards but no
Sea snail? (golbaengi)
I think you are correct. My mom makes a similar dish with the onion and cucumber.
That’s my food order at OB Bear.
Golbaengi salad and spicy chicken wings. Every. God. Damned. Time.
Don’t sleep on the soondae bokum
Anyone tried Korean Corn Dogs? A few places popping up in Korean hoods across…Cerritos, Garden Grove, Rowland Heights, Ktown
I’ve had one in Seoul just to try… and… now I can say I’ve had one. I would not consider myself a corndog connoisseur by any means, but at least you can have fun with toppings. Not sure this would sell as well without Instagram.
Point taken. I am quite happy with Disneyland Corn Dogs and as I get older much prefer simplicity done well. There so much better things to eat in the Korean hoods
I did the cruncy corndog dipped in sugar w/ cheese at myungrang corn dog on sawtelle. It was recommended people at the counter.
I actually love corn dogs having grown up eating lots of them. This really sucked it was expensive with too much going on, nasty cheese, and weird tasting dipping salts. I don’t get the hype, I’ll take a well fried county fair style corn dog with mustard and ketchup (sacrilege
for some people) any day of the week.
It seems like its weird instagram/muk bang hype.
Myungrang Hot Dog isn’t bad, the Sawtelle branch has way less of a line.
Finally made it to Eighth Street Soondae. Best soondae I’ve had. The intestine, ear, and tendon(?) were all excellent as well. Liver was overcooked and dry to my taste. I didn’t find the soup very exciting, next time I’d get the plate instead of the combo. Nappa and daikon kimchi both excellent. A large combo was more than enough food for two.
Any ktown suggestions for today ?
Hoping for something open for dine in .
Rich Crab
(Not dine in but damn it looks so good)
as good as those ribs at ham ji park are (and i suspect it’s because they include gojuchang (red pepper sauce) & doenjang (think of it as japanese miso on steroids) in their marinade) one would be amiss not to get an order of gamjatang (pork neck stew). especially if one was nursing a hangover.
Hi @secretasianman,
Yes! I think our only worry is how well does that transport To-Go? Their pork neck stew is so good, but I shudder at the thought of eating it from semi-melted styrofoam (instead of being able to eat it fresh from their large pots at the restaurant).
