Little Saigon Adventures

I went to Ba Le today and it was top tier. The bread was so amazing, left bread crumb mustaches and a war zone of crumbs in the parking lot.

Bang bang today with Cococane as the perfect counter to this hot humid weather.

Did you use copious amounts of the crack sate sauce?

My favorites at Sen:

Bun Cha Hanoi
Hu Tieu Tron Sen
Pate Baguette
Pho Bac Dac Biet

They also have pickled garlic on request.

PSA for those flying out of John Wayne, the perfect take on board meal from brodard

Oh wow that is such a smart move by Brodards.

McDonalds sausage egg McMuffin and Brodard spring rolls. That’s a bang bang I can get behind.

Smart move by JWA as well. I actually might arrival a little early now. 50% of airport food at JWA is easy to eat but ubiquitous pizza and pasta.

LAX, next please. Such a big airport and the food is so underwhelming.

If the quality will be the same as Little Saigon than it automatically will be the best airport food in the country lol

Bun vit Thanh da

Was looking for some goi ga and stumbled upon this place. Looked kinda of newish.

Apparently they do goi vit which uses duck instead of chicken.

Hit all the right notes with spicy, herby, savory, acidic, funky, sweet and with pretty much every textural component. Transported me back to eating goi ga in Dong hoi!

Definitely check it out

Did you try the porridge?

Bun mạng vịt soups traditionally come with gởi vịt so it’s actually a great deal,

I’m not familiar with that, I googled it, is it a clear noodle duck soup?

What’s the flavor like?

It’s boiled duck and dried bamboo shoots which is the main flavor of the broth as well.

There’s some specialist places like that you went too and others. In sgv it’s pho vit 115

Been passing that a few times recently and wondered.

Nok’s spicy sausage with baguette from Boulangerie Pierre and Patisserie. So delicious. I bought the spicy sausage frozen and cooked them at home, super pungent and flavorful. Sausage is amazing with sticky rice at the restaurant, but a nice change up with the baguette.

Trung Nguyen Legend Cafe

Stopped by here today to try out the new coffee spot and it is pretty darn tasty. Definitely want to let the ice melt on this fucker, two sips and I can feel the powerful surge of caffeine.

Not sure it unseats reigning champ Phin Smith, but I enjoyed it, aside from the parking lot…

Thanks for taking one for the team. I have not had Hanoi egg coffee but I am eager to try it.

Looking on the map that exact location was Mai’s Kitchen. Anyone know of any other good spots in Little Saigon for homestyle food?

Prediction: Vietnamese egg coffee is going to break out of OC and be a food trend in major cities in 2023.

As far as casual food trends everyone looks to So Cal.

If you want to make money just open up shop in NYC with a So Cal casual food trend. The other day I saw a list for SF and on it was a Korean place that was basically a Sun Nong Dan knock off LOL.

Birria, smash burgers, mochi donuts, poke, tonkotsu ramen, fusion tacos, Nashville hot chicken, chicken sandwiches, you name it all of these trends make their way east and north. We had some of these for years and it’s already played out in So Cal. I remember on the east coast everyone was saying Birria-landia in NYC was the best tacos in NYC, fukin lmao absolute trash compared to La Unica. I got downvoted to hell on Reddit in the NYC section when I stated you guys just copy So Cal food trends and do it worse LOL.

What gets me none of these places give credit.

But Johnny Zone always gives credit to Nashville OG’s. Obviously you saw the long lines for years at Howlin Rays and thought you could cash in on that. Obviously you saw dozens of birria spots in LA opening up and being popular on social media.

Hell yeah I also expect Hanoi egg coffee to hit NYC pretty soon and they also have new school Vietnamese thing going on in Brooklyn and East Village/LES.

If I had f you money I would totally cash in on this and live a somewhat bicoastal baller life LOL of course that is grossly over simplify and not as easy haha

I would love to see the hipster bagels in LA and the Bay hit the east coast for the lulz

Don’t get me wrong I love the east coast!
