Loaxley Reviews Every Pasta at UOVO

Going to try and hit up the Studio City one this weekend. First timer! I don’t eat pasta a lot, so I’d like some sage guidance. I blindly took the server’s rec at Beethoven Market and ordered the carbonara. I’m not the biggest fan of heavy foods, so after the first bite I wowed but knew finishing would be a hurdle. How’s the vongole?

Ragu great. It’s shockingly light with the thin flat pasta.

Brodo - broth was great but oof the tortellini filling was weirdly sour and just tasted of sour and Parmesan. No meat flavor.

Carbonara - so good - agreed with everything in @Loaxley s review. The render on that guanciale is so perfect

we really enjoy the vongole. i can’t remember what it’s called but they also have a pasta that is simply tossed with sliced small tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil that is wonderful.

vongole not bad, but I’m very critical on vongole pastas in particular (often due to the price elsewhere and relative ease of making it pretty well at home). Uovo does, however, maintain an excellent QPR and overall dining experience for the price, so for $19, I’ll rate it a little higher. the daily shipping does seem a bit “extra,” but somehow they’re able to do it and what makes it to the plate is definitely solid for the price. whether it’s because they’re part of the Sugarfish group or whatever, they’re able to keep prices in line with like pre-pandemic expectations - and the 16% service charge is unheard of nowadays.

maybe I’m basic but I like the pomodoro (tonarelli) and pomodorini e basilico (tagliolini). good sauce and the saltiness was in balance (wish I could say the same for the salt advection feedback / AMOC status, sorry I couldn’t help myself!)

this thread is inspiring me to try more of the menu. I usually go to the Mid-Wilshire one. anyone notice a particular location’s food being an outlier (good or bad)?

Nope, every location I’ve been to has been dead on consistent. Sugarfish group magic.

YES! The basilico is the one I was thinking about as well. So simple but so delicious.
