Anybody going to the Torisho Sai x Yakitoriguy pop up in Woodland Hills on May 25th? I realize this is in the future but wasn’t sure where to post.
The May Rundown is exactly where you needed to post this.
Lunch at Hummus Bar & Grill on Ventura in Tarzana. Pretty good crowd for a Friday at noon. It’s hard to take a picture of a wrap, especially when the wrap tapers towards the mouth-end. The picture of the fries is slightly better.
Anyway, the food is very good.
Falafel in laffa with a side of fries and a shot of espresso was $24 after tax but before tip. When I get back here I’ll definitely go with a plate rather than a sandwich. There’s a hummus menu I really want to explore. And of the many spots in this genre I’ve tried, this place has the best amba that I’ve had in a long time.
I love that place.
Cant quite make out the book title…
I’ve only been to Hummus Bar & Grill once–over ten years ago–but I remember really liking it and thinking it was a cut above other places in the genre.
Underrated:
Fries at middle eastern spots. Almost always freshly fried plus garlic sauce to dip in
Is this week’s Harry’s Berries ice cream drop by Brad possibly the most epic pint of ice cream ever sold in Los Angeles?
Just maybe…
Glad he is churning again!
Esso Cafe Beverly Hills khachapuri
They were slammed and the khachapuri was definitely overcooked with the egg no longer runny. Be sure to tell them not to overcook your khachapuri! Not the best khachapuri I have ever had, but it was decent and I’m amazed that you can even get khachapuri in Beverly Hills.
Erewhon (BH). I have only positive things to say about this salmon toast. Yum. The vegan breakfast sandwich is good too, except the English muffin is too dry.
Poquito Mas. I can’t say much positive about this bland burrito. “Inoffensive” I guess?
I’ve been finding myself at Bub and Grandma’s nights a lot recently. The food is pretty good, but, more importantly, everything is really well priced and there’s live jazz! Great place to go Sunday night when you don’t have plans and are too tired to cook.
What’s the go to orders there for you?
I actually think their burger is pretty solid. The fish sandwich is nice to split. (We split a burger and the fish sando today.) My wife says the schnitzel up the street at Belle’s is much better than the one at B+G’s, so I’d skip that. Haven’t tried the steak yet.
The bread and butter plate is, unsurprisingly, wonderful! The ten dollar caesar hits the spot. The pilsner is cold.
It appears to be “Regarding the Electric Chair…”
Music nights at Solarc (next to B&Gs on Eagle Rock Blvd) are very cool as well and their beers rip.
I think it’s actually “A Good War is Hard to Find: The Art of Violence in America” by Dave Griffith. Not positive, but that looks like an excerpt from “Regarding the electric chair my wife’s college boyfriend built in his house.”
Just read a little about that book. Oof, not light reading…
(back to the topic)
great pull.
@CiaoBob – it’s my current car book.
