Melisse's new incarnation steps up to plate and hits a home run

who is the chef there now? I know Ian is going to be at the new Jont out here but if they’ve shaken up the menu a bit and are hitting a groove I might return.

We had a solid meal there last year and my only gripe was them not telling me the two wines they recommended by the glass were 50-70$ a glass, I would’ve just done the pairing had I known…

I’m pretty sure Ken Takayama took over as Chef de Cuisine at Melisse, and Jose Suarez took over from Ken at Citrin.

Better than ever and still one of the best dining experiences in LA. Love the small room. Good wine pairings. If I had to rank top non-Japanese restaurants, it would be Vespertine > Melisse > Providence > Somni, though all these restaurants are relatively close in my estimation.

I have a reservation for 2 at 8:30PM on July 31st at Mélisse in Santa Monica that I can no longer use. This is the restaurant’s $399-per-person chef’s tasting menu. I am not selling the reservation or seeking any profit, I am looking for someone who genuinely wants to dine so the restaurant can transfer the booking into their name.

Mélisse has confirmed that a replacement guest is permitted. Please message me only if you are certain you can attend. I will coordinate the transfer directly with the restaurant so payment and contact information are handled securely.

Was excited to dine here having tried Melisse 1.0 back when it was a larger white tablecloth type meal, but unfortunately I had an unexpected situation come up and am outside of the restaurant’s 18-day change window.

Ugh 18 day??? That’s so annoying. And they don’t help with a waitlist? Sorry man that is some bullshit.

I’ll think about it.

Unfortunately, they don’t assist with finding a replacement diner and leave that responsibility to fall on the original patron. I thought this was an unusually strict reservation policy as well, but I understand the tight ship these places run.

If you decide you want to take the reservation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Their OpenTable page is currently even worse. It’s basically like buying a ticket on Tock.
