Went to F&F last night. If it was as good as yesterday, it’s worth a trip. If you live in the area, it’s a flippin’ godsend. Will try to post something this weekend with my typically horrible pictures of half eaten dishes. Opens Tuesday.

Had a pretty good salmon salad at Gale’s recently. Good but that coconut cake is heaven.
Later had dinner at Malbec. The salmon was better. The paella (arroz with seafood) was good but the rice was not crispy as it should have been.
On a fluke ended up at 5 Guys on Lake. Had their large cheeseburger which is a two patty affair. The flavor is great but salty. But the bun is not big enough to keep the thing together so they do give you many napkins (which you need as well as a trip to the restroom to wash your hands). The price is high. I really don’t get why it’s so high (salt is cheap). Makes Shake Shack seem super cheap. The fries are again expensive but really good but really really salty. Why so salty? It seems they are big on salt and high prices. Why? They should clip all their prices by a dollar and lower their sodium content. But they won’t.
if they stay in business, they found their niche demographic; people with a disposition towards high blood pressure.
their prices seem to be comparable to those at round premium burgers occupying the old wolfe’s location, though at $8+ a burger, i’d rather schlep over to lucky boy at get two of their $4 burgers or maybe their breakfast burrito. or get the chicken hoagie at lee’s hoagie house.
i don’t do much fast food anymore, but my impression is that prices have risen across the board maybe even more so for fast food, in terms of percentage increases, possibly because of the minimum wage increase. but that’s merely speculation.
you ordered salmon at malbec? i thought the main reason to go was to get a steak to pair with one of their wines, though truth be told, they’ve gone downhill.
I miss Wolfe Burgers.
I generally avoid red meat (cf. 5 Guys). And the chard was actually pretty good. They were pretty busy post Covid.

I don’t know if it’s on the menu or not, but I order “cheeseburger with cochinita pibil inside” every time and they’ve always made it for me. There’s an extra charge, obviously but whatever it is, it’s worth it.

With that said…
ABC Burger. Mini chicken bowl. Maybe a mini bowl of chicken chili and curry. Sides of mac salad, potato salad, and tsukemono cabbage/steamed veggies (balance, you can’t have a meal without veggies!). Portuguese sausage musubi also sounds good. Obviously I can’t eat the whole thing and will be taking a lot of it home.
I just wanna get my fill before I leave.
