i think they changed it from 2 weeks out at noon to 1 week out at noon.
Pico is still open? Two locations live?
Yeah, that’s why I’m asking. I got the impression from posts here that it was a move, not an expansion.
they’re both open
I thought pizza at the new place was really good and a wonderful experience! I like the white potato / caviar much more than the version I tried a couple of years ago. I felt there was more salty, tangy, and/or umami flavor for balance against the richness.
july 11th released today
Some info for those who are tempted to walk in rather than fight for a resy:
Line did not start forming until about 20-25 minutes before open today. 30 minutes before open should likely put you at the front or close enough to it (no need to wait an hour but the line fills up quite quickly in the last 10-15 minutes I think).
A few minutes before open, they came out to clarify the walk-in policy (which was really nice). Reservations would be served first and then they’d start seating walk ins. Whoever couldn’t be accommodated would be asked to sign up for a waitlist and leave a number for call back when ready. Maybe first 8-10 people got in? Including a group of 4. Obviously all of this is subject to change.
My group of 2 were politely asked if we could finish by 5 as we sat (which was perfect actually given the parking around the area and very reasonable given how packed they are). However, keep in mind that the scrocchiarella takes extra time. So if you know you’ll get that and have a time limit, maybe get that order in ASAP. Ours came pretty close to the end. Fine because we were basically full by then (3rd of 3 pizzas) and had to take it home anyways.
Grabbed a salad, special marg, and the mala and scrocchiarella specials. Probably a pizza too much as me and my buddy ended up splitting half a pizza to take home. My fav continues to be the scrocchiarella. This time I noticed and really liked how the cheese is cold and how that played with the hot pizza. So just highlighting another dimension of enjoyment to this amazing pizza. Friend liked the mala which I also thought very good. Sadly no room for dessert either. I think a 4-top is probably more ideal to get a full 3 course experience.
Also, corn croquette has replaced the chicken. Introduced just a couple days ago and apparently quite successful so far.
Shout outs to what I thought was pretty good service too. Sure there’s still more polishing to go but it’s looking really great.
Final note: I took the scrocchiarella home and even over an hour later it was still pretty good. It obviously wasn’t freshly crisped but still held up quite well. The vinegar and spice became more pronounced and I loved that (I like vinegar flavors fyi). I’ll be reheating my last slice tomorrow and I don’t expect it to be as good, though I’m sure I’ll still enjoy.
Good report @Bagel
Anyone have any luck today? I’ve struck out 3 weeks in a row.
Same I’ve not been able to snag anything at any time and been trying for the last week
