San Jose / Sunnyvale lunch?

Next trip thx

having eaten at meyhouse in PA and sunnyvale I felt my experience at the PA location was a lot better. server knew her stuff and was actually proud of the food and beverages. at the sunnyvale location I got put upstairs and there were no explanations or even names of the dishes (we got the tasting menu).

Anyone have an idea about Vietnamese in San Jose for a late breakfast/early lunch tomorrow? Looks like I’m driving thru on my way back to LA.

Looking hard at Lion Plaza. Very interested in some good banh cuon or nem nuong, but open to suggestions. Thanks!

I haven’t tried it myself but friends like Bánh Cuốn Bún Mộc Ông Tạ at 999 Story Rd. It’s pretty much across from Duc Huong which has some of the best banh mi

Banh cuon from Ong Ta. I’d read about this dish in the NYT years ago but never made it to Westminster to try it. I’m a real cheung fun devotee, so this is a nice half-step.

I went with the meat filling, which I think is pork and mushroom (and maybe steamed jicama?). You also get a pâté sampler, egg roll, fried shrimp, and a potato pancake — texture contrast heaven for the crunchphilic.

Big jugs of fish sauce and chilli on the table to make your own dipping sauce.

Not crowded on Monday at 1145. Parking was competitive. The crowd skewed older and there is a lot of perfume going on; sitting outside would’ve been a smarter move.

One entree, coffee, tax and tip I’m out like $24. I’d come back in a heartbeat, but there are also about a thousand other places in San Jose to explore.
