Sandwiches that Define LA and OC

Last time I went they took the brains off the menu. This was a while ago though.

Bummer. I haven’t been in a minute - I’ll check the next time I’m nearby.

Actually, both the cheeseburger and the chiliburger are also from L.A. County. The former originated in 1924 at the Rite Spot in Pasadena, the latter was a staple at Ptomaine Tommy’s (also sometime in the 1920s). If you want to add patty melts to the mix, you can thank Tiny Naylor for another L.A. original.

What’s the best patty melt outside of cassells nowadays?

I think quite a few of us are partial to the 1/2 pound version served at Pann’s.

Also the vibes at Pann’s.

The old school Googie building, the counter seating, a never ending cup of diner coffee, the locals.

Also on the same street as shortcut to LAX!

Watch out for the crazy speeders on La Cienega

I’d consider Pann’s buffalo chicken sandwich their ‘most iconic’ but not sure if that belief is widely held.

Somehow ended up with a C’est Si Bon gift card recently. It was very good! Great morning bun, good slice of pie, tasty sandwich. All for 25 bucks!

Forgot to post this a few months ago. With so many places closed by 9-10. Apple Pan goes until midnight on Saturday.

Never had a tuna melt there!

Excellent reminder! On the Westside… places open late aren’t many to begin with’

Big fan of the patty melt at ERB. I like it better than their burger.

Oh!!! Is this at the Arts District location?! I always get the biscuits and feel like because of that I need to get something lighter as my main. but I do love a great patty melt!!
