Not to mention all the mounting legal fees.
Good riddance - like all things J&V started promisingly enough (had some v good meals there in like '12-'13) but then fell apart and showed the rotten underbelly.
I had a good late dinner there a few years ago and met Mei Lin at the next table.
Chefs Daniel Patterson and Keith Corbin have bought the Son of A Gun space and will open a new restaurant there called Jaca…
Coi in SF was really, really good - would be great if he opens something similar
I will definitely be checking it out
Corbin and Patterson have also reopened Locol (more soul food based than Mexican)
Farewell to the Animal holdover - Yellowtail Tostada w/Fish Sauce Vinaigrette, Peanuts & Avocado.
Now and again I would pop into Son of a Gun (open all day, everyday) for this particular fix. Yes, I was charged a service fee. Yes, I tipped. Yes, I had the same two servers who worked there for years.
Sweet! Not a month goes by when we don’t have a meal or a cocktail or both at Alta Adams (forthcoming reports long overdue). If there’s a place we’d call our neighborhood joint Alta Adams is it. Good food, fun vibe, staff camaraderie and always something goin on - book signings, speakers, chess night, collabs, wine tastings! I feel like the next time I walk thru Adams Wine Shop door they’re going to yell “Norm!” Excited to see what these two bring to Jaca!
That’s on the menu? I loved that dish. I suppose I missed my window.
