South Bay Staples

I enjoy fruity coffees so this hit the spot. Do you go to Junia often?

I have been there a few times. Pink Bourbon is great when the timing is right. I have enough beans at home so I am waiting for the right opportunity to try their pourvers. But Junia would be my emergency bean source if I ever run out of supply.

Any one have good recs for some good decaf Swiss water or other natural process

Diddn’t know exactly what “jumped the shark” might mean for zankou but then I cracked open my zankou branded to-go bag and there was a zankou branded lid on my zankou combo kebab plate.

I ate -a lot- of zankou when I worked a few blocks from the sepulveda location 20 years ago :scream:. Honestly it never felt expensive for the quality then like it does now but maybe that’s because I have a mortgage and also can cook now? Food at the new location wasn’t bad! But 20 bucks is a little tough to swallow. I haven’t been to King Med yet but might give it a shot next if people Reccomend?

It was packed in zankou as expected but the parking lot had a ton of room. Def will be back for a toum fix for my wife but I might pay the extra dollar for all dark meat because the white meat on the chicken kebab was pretty dry. I thought the spices were the same and the beef was cooked much better than the pasadena location which was the last local zankou for me (prices were climbing but I don’t remember them being THIS high). I’ll add the pita was very low quality even with a quick heat on a gas burner I gave up on those. Staff was super friendly and helpful which while appreciated also did not feel like zankou lol.

The play at Zankou is the whole chicken or the Schwarma (even then it’s not good), sadly these new places are run more like chains than something like a Rotisserie Mini Kabob.

Great meal at tnt aloha cafe. Saw a post on social media saying how the chef from Oaxaca bought the restaurant from the owners. Kimchee loco is great with the Napa and homemade Portuguese sausage balancing out the heaviness of the gravy.

Pancakes were surprisingly good. Will def be back it’s been awhile.

Which place?

Woori Zip Mom’s Cooking. Btw, the Bulgogi Rice Bowl is served in a hot stone bowl. It’s actually a bit different from the picture on the menu which launched to next level of goodness.

That’s different. Most places will not bother with a dolsot for bulgogi.

How’s the marinade for the bulgogi?

The bulgogi was well marinated without over-the-top seasoning. The first time I had it, the rice crispy was perfectly charred. The second time, it was under-charred, so I’d ask for more time next time. Overall, it felt like a home-cooked meal, by a grandma.
