Yah. Forgot to mention the meats were sliced paper thin so had the right mouth feel for shabu. Sauces and broth are fine - nothing special but I seldom find shabu sauces and broth special. And the wagyu curry is definitely solid 
Finally the end of meal ice cream isn’t even bad - I got the chocolate and added some coffee jelly from the drink bar and that was the perfect ending.

lol. i’ve been a few times and never remembered to do it. i’m also usually too full by the end to really enjoy dessert. this weekend, i made sure to save room!

Kansha is on a heater right now. I’ve always loved the slightly icy, colder than normal, but still creamy texture of the base. But one of my complaints is that the milk ice cream base tends to overshadow the flavors. Last week though had the coffee ice cream with dark chocolate covered pretzels and holy crap that was good. Deep coffee flavor with generous pretzel chunks throughout. And then this week was banana base with salted caramel. Amazing. There bitter/burnt caramel shined! Will be back tomorrow.

I tried the crispy shrimp tacos and they tasted oily and burnt. I’d be willing to try some other items. The place looks festive but I’d want to try their items not cooked in the deep fat fryer.

Tasty China. The Chinese in me can’t get over the huge portions. Great cooking never too salty.
Saigon dish used to go here all the time for lunch. Haven’t been in years pho tastes like msg and water makes me appreciate redbo more. Noodle bowls are still awesome great smoky char on the pork. Prices are circa 2010 which is awesome

Did some ruiji catering the other day. Toothpick lamb, spicy crispy chicken, cold sichaun noodle, and garlic cucumbers. Made the dumplings from sunny dumpling house that were an hit and ordered beef with broccoli from wok experience.
Everyone enjoyed and it fully fed 23 adults for about 14pp, some of the lao wais thought it was too spicy though lol

OOOOOHHH. CANAAN PV update. We had dinner last night at the Artesia location. Finally remembered to ask. They said they are hoping to open next month (not sure if that means September or October…) Also said the menu will be like one at West Covina, which means much more than Canaan Cafe in Torrance, and essentially like Canaan Artesia minus the Taiwanese dishes and the esoteric stuff, i.e. anything intestine.

Yeah, if it actually has the same menu as the West Covina one, I will be a very very happy camper. We greatly enjoy the food at the Artesia location. Had a steamed fresh whole bass last night - 2.5# at $20/lb and it was very nicely done! Not the best prep ever, but 100000x better than anything I can get within half an hour of home.

They said it was fresh. And it seemed like it… Not that frozen bass where the meat gets almost gummy. It was a great deal, imo.
Sort of random question. Any Chinese restaurants in the area that can steam their dishes? Back in the day. I used to eat steamed mu shu chicken as a weight loss food. Basically, this Chinese restaurant near my old home would steam all the mu shu ingredients (cabbage, chicken, egg, wood ear, bamboo) with no salt, oil or seasoning. And then I’d just add hoisin and wrap it up.
We eat out so much these days that I’m trying to fit in the occasional healthy alternative. Anyone know of any restaurants off hand before I start calling around?

I don’t know if any specific place but if I were to choose which restaurant might likely accommodate such request I would ask tasty China they are pretty open to random requests usually.
