South Bay Staples

Just got back from Super King definitely smaller than Anaheim.

The focus of course is on produce here. Did a quick walk thru most of it is price between $1-$2 and the quality looked good for a supermarket chain. Way better in every way to Ralphs/Vons/etc. Pack of strawberries at $1. Persian cukes also $1. More fresh mint than all of the Ralphs in the South Bay combined.

Interesting stuff:Yogurts, cheeses, deli stuff. All stuff I don’t eat anymore. Lots of lavash!

Disappointing; Mezze stuff. TJ’s hummus is better than this. Not much made in house like Northgate/Vallarta.

I try my best to as much whole foods I can so I think I’ll be going here a lot you seriously can’t beat the prices

the meat dept. at the Torrance Jon’s is legit for a grocery chain. actual in-house butchery and they take custom requests for anything, like veal bones.

Jon’s is an interesting one because each location changes things slightly to appeal to whichever neighborhood it’s in.

also yea, my parents are still in Torrance, and i’m unbelievably jealous of what y’all have in such a short distance. i’m in a market oasis rn

I forgot Jon’s on the list. Yes they do have some interesting stuff! I been to the Los Feliz and Torrance ones only

i grew up walking distance from the Torrance one. they used to serve our school every Friday. it’s objectively bad pizza, but i still fucking love it lol. my dad still goes there at least once a week.

If using the middle of Torrance I think most of the markets I listed are easily within 5 miles or less

Can’t wait for Canaan cafe to open it looks like it’s gonna be soon.

Tasty China still tasty

Hadnt been to kitakata ramen in about 6 months but their broth is excellent and their green chili was a highlight it was my first time trying their signature. They also made excellent seasonal wonton ramen noodles.

I love that green chili shio ramen. the peppery, slightly spicy bite in the broth is so wonderful in the Socal “winters.” Very soul warming.
