So, I wrote this after bringing it home just now and before I had a chance to eat and… while the turnip cake was good as was the bolo bun, you’re absolutely right re the congee. I was fine with the meat (but yeah, its more on the stringy side) but the egg was definitely too hard and the aroma just wasn’t there. Don’t know if I got a bad batch but I usually enjoy it more.
I havent had it at this lunasia in torrance, but I’ve had congee at other lunasias and its very good so try that next time!
Most likely a case of you get what you pay for I think Lunasia is 2x the price but if it’s good, it’ll be worth it!
Also add some XO sauce into your congee.
I have never tried that and also never bought xo sauce. Only had it at restaurants.
Any brand you recommend?
growing up, it was always Lee Kum Kee brand!
The Cerritos/Artesia branch of Lunasia offers XO sauce on the side at an extra charge.
I always order it for my congee. Makes it more fun.
Ah ok I will check that out thx for the tip!
Went to ramen ajido tonight because hakata ikkousha was so packed.
Don’t go to ajido lol food is not very good and we waited forever.
There’s a good reason for that. The chahan is also outstanding there.
The katsu-don at Wadatsumi is delicious. The tamago was luscious and the tonkatsu thick and crunchy underneath. And of course the gohan was perfection as usual.
Damn looks delicious
And they have Suntory Premium Malt on tap!
Wow nice but what I’m really looking for is a suntory high ball machine!
Looking good!
LOL. Made the same mistake… We were trying to go to Torihei, and couldn’t get in. Nowhere close by to go to. Ajido was terrible. Would rather go to Matsui, which is ok, but nothing special.
I found Torihei to be incredibly mediocre recently.
Sorry to hear we had a great meal there about 1.5 months ago but maybe it was because we went right at opening on a weekday and there were no customers expect for us.
Interesting. How so? We were there last week and really enjoyed it!
