What on earth?! That sounds like a fake story except I know it isn’t!

I’ve seen a lot of shit at SY, lol, one of my favourite being a guy taking the temaki and just propping it up vertically, leaning against the wooden counter. He took one small bite and didn’t eat the rest.

You should have to eat your way up to Yoshizumi before being allowed to eat there…

After a break of nearly 3 years of being in the Bay Area and being able to dine at Sushi Yoshizumi I will finally be back at the beginning of May.
What are the odds of sneaking a reservation for one on the 1 single day that I’ll be in the Bay Area? I thought it would be impossible or that I’ll have to pay a reservation for 2…
However, I was lucky enough to score a reservation for 1, really looking forward to dining there again. After my reservation the remaining 1 seat (on a weekend) even stayed available for another 2 days which seems to be really rare.

Seems easier to get reservations nowdays - maybe related to the lack of a star? If anyone’s been recently, any thoughts on whether the level of quality has been maintained? I haven’t been yet but am hoping to figure something out in the next couple months.

I think it’s easier to get reservations most places these days.

The omakase I enjoyed at Yoshizumi last summer proved as outstanding as ever. Akira-san cooks with heart and sincerity, and that shines through on every bite. Yoshizumi remains one of the very top sushi-yas in the U.S.
