Only two hours from whistling straits if any of you golf degenerates wanna spend like 3k in 3 days in Wisconsin, lol.
I went to school at Madison and this is in the middle of no where. Glad for chef that he is prioritizing his family and well being. Hope they become a big draw for the area.
Only 90 minutes from Lambeau Field, baby! Gonna wear my cheese hat to root for the packers* and then also to root for quesadillas.
*not actually a packers fan, but I do want to visit Lambeau someday
Yeah. Wisconsin is one of the 6 states I havenāt been to. The only real draw for me is Lambeau. (Iām sure Madison is lovely, donāt get me wrongā¦) This restaurant on a peninsula in the middle of nowhere ever so slightly moves the needle in favor of going. Above 50% chance that I go to the restaurant if I go to Lambeau.
Awww, yeah. Ravens at Packers for Christmas this year.
Wisconsin is terrific. If youāre in the area
Sheboygan
Kohler Art Museum
Spring Green
American Players Theatre - itās a well established beautifully run outdoor theater.
Lake Geneva is a good stop, too.
Wisconsin is a premier golf destination now as well with Whistling Straits, Erin Hills and Sand Valley.
Nothing beats game day in Madison.
Chapeau to them. Recharge, take care of elders, raise children, help break stereotypes of what Californian are like, and reinforce the good stereotypes. ![]()

Iāll miss those imaginative meals that expanded my mind on Mexican food. Hope to visit Wisconsin one day while on a golf sojourner.
On a positive note. He is halfway to my home.
If this is really truly in the middle of nowhere, are there enough people to support the kind of restaurant I presume he envisions?
The town the Salgados moved to is Ephraim which is east of Marinette. The largest town in Door County is Sturgeon Bay which has ~10k people. The only reason Iāve even heard of Sturgeon Bay is bc of a few Badger football players from the area. Green Bay is 90 mins away. Milwaukee is 3 hours away. Madison is 3.5 hours away.
I believe itās a vacation town
I am going to be there on Monday and Tuesday, which unfortunately are the two days the restaurant is not open. Messaged chef and planning to at least stop by and say hi. I am sure he is doing an amazing freshwater version of his amazing cooking. Will post a facade shot when Iām back!
Such a shame I was not able to eat here, but wow Door County is a pretty amazing place. Hit some decent colors as well, although nothing like it was in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan which was at peak. Interior is very simple, as always Chef is probably letting his food do the talking.
outrageously cute building
damn, so is this a tourist town? Like a summer/fall spot? Did some poking around on street view and it looks cute!
Yes, I had no conception of Door County before visiting but it is a MAJOR tourist spot. Things were tailing off in mid-October, but there are apple and cherry orchards, vineyards, lots of farm shops and wineries and cider makers. Ephraim and its nearby neighbors have lots of this cutesy tourism, if thatās your thing. Wildly beautiful area.
