Indeed they can be. I remember a res at Melisse not being terribly easy last I checked as well. I think they’re only doing 7 seatings/week, so you might need to jump on it asap
Yup you’re right. No reservations for Melisse. Husband found something for Nozawa Bar. Any thoughts on this ? He’s always wanted to go…
Nozawa Bar is good. Wife and I went a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. Nice room, nice chef, feels like a special occasion restaurant. I would rank the following places higher though: Sushi Ginza Onodera, Udatsu, Mori Nozomi, Kaneyoshi, 715, Morihiro.
Pair Nozawa Bar with the Maybourne Whisky Bar across the street and you could talk me into it.
We will have to check out the whiskey bar! Thanks for your advice!
Hi! I wanted to ask you… and everyone here what your recommendations are for a great anniversary gift? My husband loves Japanese whiskey but obviously I don’t want to buy too much as re sell. Would you suggest something like Louis? Yamazaki 18? Hakushu 12? Those are some options I see that are available. Hibiki 21 or 30 would be amazing but I don’t want to pay an exorbitant amount. I know sometimes BevMo or Total Wine might have something. He also loves caviar and is a foodie like me. Anything you would recommend?? It doesn’t have to be alcohol or food I’m just out of ideas on what guys would like LOL
Sorry, I don’t know much about Japanese whisky.
I think it would be insane to buy Louis XVIII. If you really want to splurge on cognac, I would buy this one: Tesseron “Exception” Lot No. 29 XO Grande Champagne Cognac (750ml) (Local Delivery Only - cannot ship) - SKU 1023538
with cognac or armagnac you can also try to find specific years, e.g. birth year
Do you have any suggestions on good brands? I don’t drink much at all so I have no idea lol
Japanese whisky prices have been slightly dropping as of the last year, but still pretty expensive.
Hibiki 21 you can find for $500 a bottle now in auctions/FB groups. Hibiki 30 went from 6-8k a bottle to around 5k. Other good brands I recommend from Japan are Chichibu and Mars. You can find Mars in bottle shops like mission liquor.
One of these, I’d be very happy if the wife bought me one of these 0.5/1kg tins.
The teeny tiny portions at restaurants never cut it for me. Same story with truffles at restaurants.
