What did you drink today?

I up the lime a bit but yes this is it! Strikes a nice balance between something legit citrusy (margarita, daiquiri, etc.) while also being relatively spirit forward. It gets very good reviews from the type of folks who usually drink Negronis, old fashioneds, etc.

In kind of a similar vein one of my favorites is the Very old school Canchanchara! It’s very simple but tasty.

Free Dive by Coppertail Brewing Company (Tampa, FL) - IPA

Rather “classical” IPA with strong notes of citrus and piney with a quite prominent malt backbone which counterbalances the dry, medium-high bitter finish.

Oo I’ll give that a try! Looks delicious. You use cachaca or rum?

I use a white rum

139-year-old vines, own roots. Turns out I’d had it before in wines from Bonny Doon and Clos Saron.

The Glow by Cellarmaker Brewing Company (Oakland, CA) - NEIPA

Definition of a crushable NEIPA with pineapple, mango and grapefruit juiciness and some quite restrained grassy, piney notes. Dry, low bitterness finish. Soft mouthfeel and relatively thin, light body.

Killer Dismount by Alvarado Street Brewery (Monterey, CA) - Hazy IPA

Quite close to a “classical” balanced NEIPA with upfront juicy flavors of guave, strawberry and lime before a nice counterbalance of piney dankness (without getting too funky). Dry, medium bitter finish - perfect on a hot summer day

Was this yesterday?

Yeah, upstairs at Chez Panisse. Not for breakfast this morning. Though we will be drinking some leftover later.

Gotcha, gotcha. We were downstairs yesterday and I was kind of wondering about one of the menu items

Tefnut with Apricot and Passionfruit from The Veil
Brewing Company (Richmond, VA) and Omnipollo (Sundbyberg, Sweden) - Imperial Gose

Outstanding gose with a very thick consistency from tons of apricot and passionfruit but with a very health dose of tartness. Bold, fruity (but not sweet), tart, sour. Hides its ABV very well.

Last night’s bottle. Sparkling vin de france, brut nature. Been toting this (last bottle from a 3/4 case) around for about 11 years.

Loire Valley. I think it’s equal parts gamay, grolleau, and pineau d’aunis. Hit of peach pie on the nose, yeasty, still plenty of fizz; not as complex as I remember, but pretty good considering it’s been beaten up through two cross-country moves and stored at the bottom of various closets until finding its way into a fridge last year.

I had their Les Nouettes 100% Pineau d’Aunis last night. Light, fresh, 10.5% ABV.

Nectaron Westeez by Alvarado Street Brewery (Monterey, CA) - IPA

Interesting mixture of peach, grape and quite a lot of citrus before this IPA turns grassy, piney with a dry, medium bitter finish. Overall quite strong emphasis is on the piney and bitter finish, less on the hops aromatics.
