Fresh Hop Bayside Mosaic (2025) by Breakside Brewery (Portland, OR) - IPA
Lots of stone fruit, melon and citrus upfront before long grassy, piney flavors come through. Quite strong bisquity, dought malt backbone and a very dry, medium bitter finish. Very clean tasting fresh hop IPA
Fresh Pierogi by Fort George Brewery (Astoria, OR) and Hop Butcher for the World (Chicago, IL) - Double Hazy IPA
Starts with a short burst of sweet mango, melon and grapefruit before it gets really, really dank and piney with a dry, high bitterness finish which lasts for a long time. Quite bold hazy IPA
I had their Oktoberfest Maerzen (Zoktoberfest) a few years ago (part of a Oktoberfest shipping from BA) but their beers are hard to find on the west coast
Quite melon forward flavors upfront with notes of grapefruit before it turns really towards piney, resiny, dank flavors. Dry, medium bitter finish. Well balanced and smooth and the best fresh hop IPA so far this year
Fresh IPA by Fort George Brewery (Astoria, OR) - IPA
Touch of fruit (mainly citrus variations) upfront, followed by a quite floral flavor with some piney notes more on the background. Very dry, medium bitter finish which lingers for a very long time and still has some of the floral notes.
Field of Green (Fresh Chinook 2025) by Fort George Brewing - Hazy IPA
Very bright but yet balanced hazy IPA with pineapple and grapefruit fruit notes (without too much sweetness), followed by piney, slightly grassy flavors (without getting very dank). Dry, medium bitter finish. Very crushable and balanced.
Amarillo Ambush by Original Pattern Brewing Company (Oakland, CA) - IPA
Amarillo hops are often described as having an orange forward flavor with additional floral and slightly piney notes and pronounced bitterness. This fresh hop IPA pretty much showcases this hop flavor profile quite accurately with a soft mouthfeel.
Fresh Hop Juice Jr. by Great Notion Brewing (Portland, OR) - Hazy IPA
Quite close in flavor profile as the “original” one but perhaps with a bit more pronounced citrus and tropical peach flavors and a bit less piney notes. Relatively low bitterness finish with a very smooth mouthfeel.
first batch ever of homemade makgeolli. just used whatever glutinous rice and nuruk was at the korean market. 15 day ferment. was fairly cool n a bit of a longer brew so it was a pretty safe brew. no off flavors. very dry n can feel a bit of heat in your throat. not much in the way of obvious acid but maybe the slightest touch. the strong overripe fruit flavors of the early days of fermentation aren’t there any more, but its pleasant n lightly apple-y on the nose. love the mouthfeel of the cheongju skimmed off the top.
Strata Squish by Original Pattern Brewing Company (Oakland, CA) - IPA
Nice mix of citrus and dank flavors dominate this WCIPA. Starts with strong grapefruit notes before dank, piney flavors take over with floral hints in the background. Dry, medium bitter finish with still some citrus flavors.
Dank Schrader by Original Pattern Brewing Company (Oakland, CA) - IPA
Nice representation of simcoe hops with citrus (lemon, grapefruit) upfront before tons of piney, earthy and dank flavors take over. Dry, medium bitter finish - refreshing WCIPA
Fresh Hop Northleft by Great Notion Brewing (Portland, CA) - Hazy IPA
Excellent fresh citra hop variation on their hazy Northleft IPA. Pretty much a long the lines of the “regular” Northleft (melon, citrus, floral) with perhaps a bit more pronounced citrus notes and a bit more dank in the second half
Fresh Hop Easy Lift by Great Notion (Portland, OR) - IPA
Close to its “regular” counterpart with mainly grapefruit and floral flavors and a dry, medium-high bitter finish. Good but a bit of middle of the road WCIPA
