Orange Creamsicle by WeldWerks Brewing Company (Greeley, CO) - Fruited Sour
Orange creamsicle ice cream was a favorite when we were young. This sour unfortunately doesn’t really replicate it as it has a strange aftertaste (and the can mentions artificial sweeteners). Way too sweet without hardly any sourness to balance it out. In addition, artificial color is also added to it. Weldwerks makes great IPA and stouts but that is already the second sour from them which is overly sweet with no tartness
Fac-Simile was gorgeous, WOTN.
Ledru still had a powerful, energetic spine. Great quality. Ever changing in the glass.
Savart was nice on the nose but a little disjointed at the finish. I’ve had better luck with the ‘19s
I didn’t get pictures of everything but really enjoyed this white from sherry country that really has an Amontillado/vin juane character. I loved it, but definitely not for everyone
Adrien Dhondt Les Coullemets (Mesnil sur Oger), BDB, 2018 vintage, 2022 disgorgement. 3rd cuvée of his Le Project initial vintage. While not giving a ton on the nose, good balance and structure, better on the second day. I thought it would be even more exuberant given the vintage, but there is good potential here and it could be pretty great in a few years.
Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Les Ursules, BDN, 2016 vintage, 2020 disgorgement. Excellent, WoTN. I’ve had many, many magical moments with Cédric Bouchard’s wines and this one was singing. Very complex with ripe orchard fruit for days, lemon, nougat, salinity. Of his BDN, Les Ursules is preferable than Bechalin and naturally Val Vilaine, but under Presle for me.
Jérôme Prévost La Closerie Les Béguines, BDN (meunier) LC19. Great as always. Complex, crisp, spicy, juicy fuji apple, serious energy.
