If they’re lucky, I may give them some chips for scooping.
Oh come on Ma… Gotta’ have something to scoop with. How about a carrot stick?
What potato salad?
She uses potatoes, eggs, onions, best foods Mayo, yellow mustard, salt & pepper. Her tricks: Lots of eggs, plus she grates the eggs and onions. I don’t know why it is so good.
I use her base, but add celery, relish and white vinegar. I get a lot of compliments on mine (husband likes relish). But I actually like hers better.
Purist! If you have really tasty avocados to work with it’s a terrific way to go. I tend to feel like I need some harmonious assistance from add-ins most of the time.
With avocado toast being a ‘thing’ these days, purist guac sounds great too.
Yeah, the pool was great. It’s on our list for our next house.
That being said, I’m looking forward to the cooler weather for braises, gumbo and any new all-afternoon projects I may be able to get myself into. I’ve done choucroute garnie once. I’m thinking a cassoulet would be a good way to spend a weekend, or month depending on if I want to do my own duck confit.
I tackle a hard-core ragu at least once a year, usually around February. And one beef bourguignon.
That might be a fun thread, winter cooking projects, the more complicated and prone to fuck-up, the better.
Yep… that’s when I go purist. Otherwise, I’m like you and have to add more stuff.
Wow. Look at you!
I keep saying the same thing. “Once the weather gets better. Once the weather gets better.” But I’m starting to suspect it’s an excuse and I don’t really mean it. The cooking jones comes and goes. I’m looking forward to seeing your adventures in the kitchen though. No pressure or anything .
I will admit that club soccer and life in general make it challenging to find a day to do it, but I usually can find a few days.
I make killer deviled eggs. . .potato and macaroni salad.
Does cocktails count? Everyone loves when I make cocktails, since I’m a real heavy pourer on the booze thang…
Feel free to share recipes .
Yes cocktails definitely count. Not everybody has a good hand.
It’s all about the Mayo baby. .
In regards to hate when the bartender is a weak ass bartender. . .or worse yet, when they have those damn measured shots like they have at the airport…you gotta get a double just to make it a halfway decent drink!
Just gobbs and gobbs of Best Foods, sea salt and peppa, a little Dijon mustard and a splash of celery salt…
Simple and delicious…
Delicious! Yes… Gobbs and gobbs are a must.
We seriously need to have a potluck one summer. lol
