Some friends and I recently had one real meal to spare in Winnipeg. We wound up at Deer + Almond, which is referenced in this helpful article that @prima had shared. It was great! Between the four of us, we were able to try almost the whole menu. I don’t think there was a miss in the whole bunch, but if I had to pick a few highlights I’d say the tuna sinuglaw, burnt maple steelhead, and smoked chocolate tart. I’d definitely recommend if you find yourself in Winnipeg.
Additionally, while we didn’t have time for a full meal, we were so intrigued by the look of Rae & Jerry’s that we forced a stop there for drinks and dessert (and a soup). The vibe was exactly what we were hoping for – such a time warp. The staff was a delight. The drinks turned out to be great, and the soup and dessert (chocolate cake) were solid for where we were. I’d compare this to something like Musso & Frank in Los Angeles.
