Sick of tasteless clumped together frozen berries from the supermarket, as well as the mediocre selection at the supermarket, I went a little crazy ordering frozen berries from Northwest Wild Foods. https://nwwildfoods.com/
A little pricey with shipping on dry ice, but I can confidently say I will never buy frozen berries at the supermarket again.
First, all the berries are IQF - a new term I learned that means they are Individually Quick Frozen. That means they don’t get mushy and clump together like supermarket berries.
Second, the selection of berries is amazing. I ordered bilberries, goldenberries, gooseberries, red currants, black currants, blackberries and huckleberries. I had never had most of them before. Bilberries are quite sour, but very good for your eyes and just need a touch of sweetener. The goldenberries are particularly interesting - from the tomato and eggplant family and taste like a cross between a tomato and a fruit. They are also quite big. I love the unique taste. The gooseberries are also quite interesting - like a big, slightly sour grape. The currants are delicious - I love plopping them into hot oatmeal, or mixing them into cottage cheese.
While I was putting in my order, I also ordered Wild Alaskan Halibut Burger Meat to make halibut burgers, but haven’t tried it yet. They have a slice selection of frozen fish.
Anyway, this place is a true find.
