Antico Nuovo by Chad Colby

Tip on picking up ice cream: they get busy so try to call before stopping in.

@thecookie What are they charging per pint these days?

They’re $18. I think it’s pretty much the same price as when they started selling them during Covid.

Tis a thing of beauty. US made from the 20s/30s.

focaccia - olive oil, sea salt 12

ceci puree - beets 17

fileja - fire roasted goat, tomato, calabrian chili 38

This was great. Very chewy texture.

tagliolini - jumbo blue crab, squash blossoms 50

Huge portion, lots of crab. Delicate.

Great wine list. Most bottles are way out of my price range but there were some gems for under $100.

agnello dorato - golden lamb chops, parmigiano 90

Great sear and crust.

bone marrow - potato puree 20

This was kind of nuts for a “contorno.”

sprouting cauliflower - bagna cauda 17

Great foil for the lamb. Had to watch out for big lumps of the bagna cauda.

honeycomb 13
pistachio crunch 13

Still the best.

That was about twice as much food as we needed, otherwise great meal with great service. There were reservations open from 7:45 on when I reserved the night before, but it was full.

In the past we have not been as high on Antico Nuovo as consensus, but we both agreed tonight’s meal was excellent. The focaccia and dips were good as always. But what really impressed us tonight was the tagliata di manzo — terrific flavor and texture that worked well with the Genovese pesto. The sides of red onions and wax beans were delicious. The black cod main was very good.
