Barely a whisper around here (a few mixed comments-no reviews and nada in '24). I hear it’s quite good (from reliable friends) with a great outdoor area. Thinking about going this weekend. Who’s got the game plan?
The outdoor area is great and would be a great place to drink and nibble on a nice afternoon/evening.
Lobster Ahogada is a must get though mine was pretty sparse on actual lobster.
really like it!
Still on the menu? Loreto
I’d get one of the Zarandeados with the unlimited quesadillas. I went a few times when it opened - they were doing a whole rockfish, and for me that was the best thing.
I get why some like the raws and tostadas, but for me they were gloppy and overdone, like a dragon roll you’d get at an upscale mall somewhere. I like that stuff sometimes but didn’t connect with it here.
Unfortunately looks like it is gone.
Made a reservation for tonight then this morning decided we have to push it back half an hour and I am not a big fan of “we literally do not have a phone please email us”
If you reserved through Opentable you should be able to change it through Opentable.
same
loved the lobster ahagado though
and the space
Unless the 30 minute later time slot isn’t available on OpenTable, in which case 99% of restaurants would be able to accommodate and adjust your reservation manually if you called them. I also very much dislike the trend of no phone restaurants. I’ve seen a middle ground a few times lately which is a phone number you can text but can’t call. I’m fine with that, assuming they relatively promptly respond during business hours. But from experience, emails to restaurants usually go unanswered for far too long.
Made the change via chatting on the opentable app. Annoying but whatever.
Anyway, meal was absolutely fantastic—nothing but bangers. For me standouts were the Magdalena (yellowtail ceviche), nopal cavatelli, Joaquin (seared otoro tostada) and the meringue dessert, but it was consistently excellent and I feel like there were 10 things i wanted to order for next time. It’s a drive for us, but I’ll be back.
We were there last night too. I loved it as well. We sat on the patio. Really enjoyed the vibe (great music) It was a cool evening in Frogtown, they have heaters. We were at a party previously, so we didn’t order as much as we normally would. Atún Picante was excellent. Then had the loaded sweet potato, a vary large Japanese sweet potato with escabeche (onion & carrot) and labneh, cilantro and pepitas. This was delish and on the veg menu, which I had to ask for. Also had the Callo brochetas. A good dish, but the weakest one and probably not a re-order. I saw the Chicharrón de Pescado, looked delish. Service was very good. My only criticism is the dishes we had could have used a little more chile. The tuna was perfectly composed, but the sweet potato and scallop needed chile. A minor quibble. Looking forward to returning, with at least a 4 top, to order one of the Zarandeados. And I love they have a number of round tables for 4+ tops.
I thought it was about OK, but overpriced. Liked the food far less than, say, Holbox. Chowspouse liked the ambiance.
Funny, I thought it was a pretty good value lol. We were at about $450 with tax and tip for 4 people with 2 drinks each, couple sparkling waters, and a ton of food.
