Gonna have a few meals up that way. There will be a dinner at Harbor House. There will not be a dinner at Single Thread, lol. Your boy cannot afford to double up.
Tentative plan is to stay three nights in Healdsburg and one somewhere up along the Mendocino Coast? Might change that to 2 and 2. I’d love to go to the Izakaya spot in Point Arena but can’t make the days of the week work.
Also, this’ll be a baby moon, so the gal can’t drink, which means it won’t be a trip for vineyards, etc.
Some interesting restaurants in Healdsburg could be The Matheson (New American), Guido (Latin), Lo & Behold (Comfort Food from all over world, good cocktails, open late which is helpful in that area), Bistro Lagniappe (French cooked on open fire, haven’t been yet but heard good things)
Journeyman Meat Company, Quail and Condor and Troubadour are nice for sandwiches, pastry during the day. Don’t miss Costeaux French Bakery and Cafe
Sights: in Fort Bragg, the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens and Pudding Creek Trestle. Outside of Occidental, Western Hills Garden. Guerneville, Armstrong Redwoods. A bit of a schlep from Fort Bragg but the Avenue of the Giants is fun. Benbow Inn is a nice place to stay nearby and has a surprisingly good restaurant for being so far out in the sticks.
Journeyman Meat Co. makes great ham.
Personally I don’t like Healdsburg any more, too upscale touristy, like Napa and Mendocino. I like Cottages on River Road just outside of Guerneville. I wouldn’t eat there, but the deck at the Hignland Dell Lodge in Monte Rio is a nice place to hang out over a beer or glass of wine on a nice afternoon or evening.
My favorite restaurant in the general area is Diavola in Geyserville. The Bannister tasting room a block or so away is great.
Too bad the Bewildered Pig closed.
Augie’s in Santa Rosa is classic French, a kind of restaurant I love that I’m not sure we currently have in SF / Oakland / Berkeley. I like the Rose Hotel.
