The Little Arabia IG feed shouts this place out a lot. Looks great, just haven’t been able to stop by yet. Looking forward to it even more now!
You’re on a very good run. Thanks for the Intel on a bunch of new places the last few weeks. Those falafel look great. I like the short menu. They make 2 things.
I need to. I am/used to be in the surrounding areas all the time but I never really explored Atwater properly. Just Proof Bakery and Bigfoot Lodge (LoL I like that place!).
I have no doubt that Dune probably has a excellent falafel sandwich but for a lower price point I think this place is pretty damn good.
This type of thing has happened to me so often in these pandemic/low labor pool times.
The other night I went to Girl and the Goat to sit at the bar - something I have done previously because reserving at the last minute is practically impossible. The restaurant was open (and jammed) but the whole bar was closed for the evening because they didn’t have enough staff that night.
Bottom line - no matter how sure you think you are about service times, it is really necessary to call first these days (and nights).
I too have experienced Mini Kabob heartbreak… sometimes he also sells out and closes before posted hours. I learned my lesson and will call ahead… always call.
call and order when they open, easiest and best way. weekends they usually sell out by 2 pm.
Tamales Elena Y Antojitos closes early too because of labor shortages, I found out the hard way. They have a dry erase board advising to show up early.
Time to open a popup there…
Super Tiny Kabob
…operates on Monday and Tuesdays.
I think Jim’s is better imo. But them cookies tho
No malasadas at Paderia? Did you go to Irvine where they don’t do malasadas?
While they were open when I rolled up around 3PM on a late June day, each attempt to order something was met with a walk to the back followed by either: “we don’t have any of those left” or “we only have one of those” and a “How about one of these and two of those?” After these brief negotiations, they were nice enough to throw in an extra tamale free of charge for my trouble. All were great, but I’ll make sure to get there earlier next time.
I was in Irvine
I found the cookie to be much better than the Portuguese tart at padiera.
I agree.
Really??? Okay, will have to give it another go. Had the peanut butter cookie and tart and thought the tart was better. I’ll try the CCC specifically.
