Authentic Xian Liangpi (That's The Restaurant's Name)

There are few undiscovered Chinese restaurant gems in the San Gabriel Valley because, well, there are thousands of people like us criss-crossing the SGV scouring for Chinese restaurants. However, I think I’ve found one in the recently opened Authentic Xian Liangpi in Rosemead. It just moved into the front portion of an obscure restaurant called Unique Smokehouse, which sells pork, duck, chicken etc. parts in take home quantities. Liang pi and Chinese hamburger were great. Location is 5803 Rosemead Blvd., right on Rosemead Blvd. in the big shopping center on the NW corner of Rosemead Blvd. and Las Tunas.

I haven’t spent much time in the SGV, but is it normal for a small stand to open within another business? This seems different from the ghost kitchen set up of another business using an established business’ kitchen for a different concept.

This is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing!

Not especially common but it does happen. I’ve seen arrangements where one restaurant operates in the daytime and a different one at night, but only a handful of times.

Short menu and “Secret Sesame Sauce” sound great to me. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, as chandavkl wrote, I’ve seen it a few times as well. One being Tenju Tea House in Hacienda Heights, which operated out of the back portion of a dried scallop place. As he also mentioned, there were a couple of restaurants in that area that were one restaurant in daytime and another in the evening. I seem to recall Mr. Lamb (Uyghur) operating that way and, if I recall correctly, the short-lived Hangzhou-style place was one that also operated that way until finding another space.

Adding to the find is the fact they serve Qinzhen style liang pi which is made from rice flour.

How about the sesame noodle? Rice or wheat?

Thanks, as always, for the intel chandavkl.
