Sunday afternoon vegan? ice cream pop-up? Mei Lin plugged it on her Instagram evaporator. Showed three flavors, “polito orange,” “Coleman passion,” “Regier peach.”
If the peach one comes anything close to the taste of the actual Regier peaches, it will be phenomenal. I’ve basically refused to eat any other peaches this season.
Awan ice cream is excellent! Tip: Open Market in Koreatown now has a freezer with pints of their ice cream to go.
Probably wasn’t paying much attention to this place because I was on the east coast but they now have a second location on Melrose fyi
Haven’t been by in a couple of weeks, but they had signage up at a new location right next to the Metro station in Chinatown.
Really good stuff.
I was at the Melrose location last night - first time visit and I’m looking forward to next time. I had a split scoop of caramel and gaviota strawberry. My eating companion had the vanilla and strawberry. Both of us confident in our choices.
Split scoop was $10/per, before tax or tip.

I kind of feel like their ice cream is denser or something so a split scoop is actually quite a lot. The strawberry was one of the best ice creams I’ve had in a while.
Agreed. I like getting more than one flavor in a cup. Maybe I’ll go back today.
From November 2025 - does anyone know the December flavors? The website is terse. Best ice cream in the city, and for my pear loving companion, it had the best pear non dairy offering since Bulgarini Gelato. The below offering on the left is pear with oreo chocolate; the offering on the right is caramel and either cranberry or strawberry. The pear was the best thing we got all day. Delicious.

Has Awan figured out how to mute the coconut flavor yet? I went here with Jake from Feld (who certainly has a much better palate than I do) and he turned to me after eating the vanilla and said something to the effect of: this is very good but to call it vanilla is silly, because all we could taste was the coconut.
