Nope! I’m just happy they bucked a lot of trends that make dining out less awesome. This was a good time.
Thanks for the update. Been trying to go since it’s theoretically walkable if I was willing to take on the Mar Vista hill but it’s always been booked out. (I’m too old to eat late) Finally going on the 14th with a friend who’s in town.
Went on Monday. No pix. Artichokes were much different than the pic above. Still good but smaller cut, less stem, not too crispy. Disappointing. Suppli was very good. Zucca was very nicely crisped but would have loved a bit more goat cheese filling. The bottoms were so delicious once you got to them. “Meatballs” were unique shredded beef breaded and fried with a pesto more than salsa verde. Verdict out on that one. Family all had pasta and 2 were loved. One just liked a lot (my wife’s bolognese). My son is a carbonara junkie so was never going to get a bad review or a taste. Got to try daugher’s casoncelli and the half that didn’t fall in my Skyduster was delish, i will definitely go back for a full order. I had the pork collar with Nectarine and Fennel and it was excellent. Nice to have an affordable neighborhood casual spot. Will be back. Didn’t do any pizzas since we did Doughroom the night before and I intend on having Little Coyote’s Peach monthly special this weekend.
If you haven’t checked out Cosetta, I highly recommend them for pizza (over Beethoven). They’re both super solid additions to the west side.
I understand the hype behind this place - the patio seating is comforting, and the service was a delight. Really brings the warm sunny days together creating a nice environment!
We started with the focaccia with whipped ricotta and honey before transitioning to the salads. As mentioned before, the salads here were felt very fresh, especially the arugula salad - simple traditional with parm and lemon vinaigrette but the freshness of the produce stands out.
The pastas to me were the standouts here - I thought the pasta was cooked well and the flavors came together as they should. The campanelle bolognese was my favorite, I could have had another plate of that for sure. Also, the roasted artichokes with lemon and parsley were the perfect side for the pastas. The only dish that was just okay for me and I would not need to order again was the tuna carpaccio.
If you need a nice refreshment, I recommend their pina colada that is more citrusy than sweet. The Good Green is a nice follow-up or if you want something stronger, the Gregory Ain. And how can I forget that you have to end it with their homemade tiramisu.
All in all, a comfortable neighborhood spot with great prices where you may bump into some familiar faces.
