Not much of a drinker but Ballast Point in Long Beach has the Impossible Burger and I’ve seen people bring in food.
But really it’s all about the views

BTG? what’s that.
Hermosillo, that’s your prescription then. Aside from beer they have wonderful wines by the glass. But also try their beers, especially sour ones.
BTG = by the glass
I think you mentioned you have a upcoming trip?
Check out Tabula Rasa Bar.
Yea, it’s pretty nice. Had a couple of awesome vermouths there recently. There are 3 really good wine bars on sunset’s silverlake side as well, Prado being the favorite
but back to beer… Monkish and Smog City are amazing, and then food at Mitsuwa Market.
My two breweries I frequent often are Monkish and BL. We generally eat before we go there. So many good Japanese joints in Torrance. The pizza truck that has been parked outside Monkish is pretty good.
At BL I like the Brew Wings truck. They have very good regular good old spicy buffalo wings.
BL? what’s BL
In downtown LA, The Burrow is a good hangout for grub and adult libations.
BL = Bottle Logic
The closest decent options within ~5 minutes are In N Out and El Farolito.
They have excellent hard to get barrel aged stouts.
Is there any reason you chose to abbreviate that? IDRUWYDT
Here is a link to MacLeod’s food truck schedule, http://www.macleodale.com/food-trucks/. I second @Nemroz’s recommendation of Ladyface, https://www.ladyfaceale.com/kitchen/. They currently serve my favorite burger although one time the bun was stale.
Those brewery/Japanese bang bangs make for great days.
Are there other good breweries in that area to maximize a trip over the hill?
it’s so great… tho ugh we’ve tried to eat at hachi 3 times and failed all 3… but it’s surrounded by so much! then there’s the ice cream place by the freeway too
The problem is its not just over the hill; its over the hill and way out there (Kanan and the 101). Coming from the Westside you could make a lovely drive of it taking either Malibu Cyn or Kanan-Dume if that appeals. Ladyface has a pleasant deck with a pretty view. Surprisingly, for an establishment that leans towards Belgian/French bistro fare, they don’t allow dogs on the deck - which is definitely not French.
I don’t really understand why you did that?
Most people who frequent breweries in LA/OC knows that BL = Bottle Logic. Plus I am lazy and like acronyms.
NA and TB are also some good OC breweries. NA great for pregame before Angel Stadium/Honda Center. In the past I really liked TB’s fall and winter offerings only downside is not much going on in that part of Placentia/Fullerton
But South Bay is still the best
TB is also in a food dessert unless you drive ~10 minutes to DT Fullerton or do take out from Mas Islamic. The new Terreaux is very nice but sours are not really my thing.
Have you been to the new Golden Road near Angels stadium? I heard its very big, kid friendly, food is decent and lots of seating. I’m not a huge fan of their beers but thinking of trying it more for the atmosphere.
For the best beer and food combo I would go to Native Son Alehouse in Santa Ana. The BBQ from Ember is very good and the tap list at Native Son is always solid. They get a lot of beers not found often such as Good Beer, Homage, Docent, Green Cheek and Rex to name a few.
Hoping the Anaheim Modern Times opens before the end of this year but based on progress I would expect a 2019 opening.
CC is probably my favorite lately in OC.
went to Mikkeller in dtla for brunch recently. vibe was chill and there were a decent amount of people there. Beer list was very good, especially liked how they don’t just have mikkeller beers on tap but include other local breweries.
CHORIZO CON HUEVOS PORK, SCRAMBLED EGG, FINGERLING POTATO $14
chorizo had a good spicy kick to it. The bread was a bit dry. Eggs and potato cooked well. overall a great way to sop up some of the beer.
THURINGER PORK, PEPPERCORN, WHOLE GRAIN MUSTARD $14
Didn’t try myself but my friends said it was yummy, especially the bright mustard flavor.
pommes frites and pink frites (with red wine vinegar in the pink powder); both $8. I personally liked the regular pommes frites better but both got the job done – anything better than beer and fries?
BURGER GRASS FED, BACON, LETTUCE, TOMATO, HOPSCOTCH CHEDDAR, FRIED ONION, AIOLI $15
didn’t try myself but looked damn good, and large, and my friends said it was tasty.
Would definitely go back to try more of their food, and beers.
