Any recs?
Drive to Artesia. Jay Bharat is my favorite, but there are plenty of exceptional options up and down Pioneer Blvd.
Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen in Fullerton. Truly transcendent. A level way beyond anything I’ve tasted in Little India. Recognized by Michelin Bib Gourmand. No alcohol though. https://www.khansaaboc.com/
My vote also goes to Khan Saab Desi.
I won’t say the best, but thanks to a rec from @CiaoBob I’ve been loving Tandoori Eats the last couple months. The tandoori chicken is prepared with a level of care I’ve never seen. Not the dried out stuff you usually get. Try the 1/2 or full chicken - I ordered the mixed tandoori last time and there was a dry drumstick and kebab. Biryani is very good as well.
nice to hear. I totally agree that they are much better than others of the ilk.
https://indiasgrill.com/ Scratches the itch in mid-city.
My votes are for khan saab, manohars delhi palace, al watan halal tandoori, and al noor.
Miss the old ambala dhaba sweets and spices in artesia, used to go as a kid bitd, place was magical!
I agree with all these.
Vegetarian here so YMMV. Spice Affair, Beverly Hills is pricey but my current fave for North Indian. Anarbagh in BH is a close second and much more reasonable. IMO both of them compete with SF and NY’s “best classic North Indian” spots for us. Annapurna in Culver City is my favorite in LA for South Indian and Chaat (Indian street food) but not up to the mark compared to other major cities. Bombay Frankie company in CC is a nice honorable mention if you are looking for something casual - think Indian burritos. I have been to Artesia multiple times and no longer bother, after discovering the above. I haven’t tried other restaurants mentioned on this thread (yet) but will do now
I second Spice Affair.
I love the Chicken Mango Masala at Anarbagh and everything else is pretty good too. It’s been our delivery Indian for a number of years.
The aloo chaat and tandoori chicken I ordered last night were excellent.
